Join the Sebago Chapter of Trout Unlimited at the Edes Falls Park Dedication Day event on Tuesday October 6, 2026 at 1:00PM.  After decades of advocacy for conservation action for the Crooked River native salmon and brook trout, the old stone dam that stood as an impediment to the spawning migration of Sebago Lake landlocked salmon has been removed and the location made into a public park.  The event is open to the public and we invite all our members, Maine fishermen, and other conservation-minded people to join in the celebration. Representatives from MDIF&W, the Lakes Environmental Association, Sebago Clean Waters, National Trout Unlimited, and the Sebago Lake Rotary Club will share their thoughts on the historic improvements to the Crooked River and other watersheds in Maine.  There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Town of Naples and refreshments served. 

River Walk (10:00 AM): A free guided walk along Frost Gully Brook to view the former dam sites that were removed to reconnect the downtown Freeport habitat. Participants will meet at the Burr Cemetery parking lot (56 Durham Road, Freeport). Note: Organizers recommend bringing tick protection and wearing knee-high rubber boots.

Main Program & Book Launch (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM): Held at the Freeport Community Center (53 Depot Street, Freeport). This afternoon session features updates on state-wide conservation projects, along with a book launch, reading, and signing for the new book Salter.
